OverviewPerfect for a short city break in the sun, Casa a Ortigia is a contemporary two-bedroom villa with a secluded roof terrace, situated on the waterfront on Syracuse’s atmospheric Ortigia island. The sea is just moments away and there are some wonderful beaches to the south of Syracuse but the main highlight of this location is the incredible history and architecture of this atmospheric city.
Spacious and stylish, the newly-refurbished villa is filled with natural light and fresh sea breezes, with polished wooden floors running throughout the house and several rooms looking directly out over the sea. On the ground floor, there is a dining-room with a double height ceiling and, accessed via a few steps, a bright, modern living room, with doors leading out to a small standing balcony. The kitchen is well-equipped, with a breakfast table, and double doors on to a second balcony.
The two double bedrooms are extremely roomy. The first of the two, together with one of the bathrooms, is on the ground floor. The main staircase leads up to the double bedroom and en suite bathroom on the first floor, and to a small roof terrace, with a table, chairs and umbrella, which is the ideal spot for an early morning coffee or for soaking up some rays at the end of a busy day.
Just across the road from the villa, a public sunbathing platform has direct access into the sea. There is also a pebbly beach less than 10 minutes’ walk away.
