VILLAS IN SICILY AND HOLIDAY LETTINGS FOR SAILING AND BOAT ENTHUSIASTS

Charter a boat, learn to sail or hop on a mini-cruise across to the Islands for some spectacular views of Sicily from the water.

With around 1500km of coastline and surrounded by crystal clear water, a boat or sailing trip is a great option in Sicily, whether you are a keen sailor or simply enjoy a pleasant day out on the water. Half and full day excursions on catamarans, sailing and luxury motor boats can be organised from a range of setting off points. To see our whole catalogue of water-based adventures click here.

Off-shore Islands >>

Lying to the west of Marsala, the Egadi islands of Favignana, Levanzo and Marettimo are the perfect excuse for a mini-cruise and some superb snorkelling in Favignana’s Cala Rossa bay. Spend the day aboard a catamaran, motor or sailing boat, or charter your own boat, mooring up for a swim or snorkel and feasting on fresh fish at lunch. Depart from Marsala or Trapani. Discover the two main Aeolian islands: Lipari and Vulcano sailing aboard the COMET 62 with lunch on board.

The South east and Scala dei Turchi >>

Take a break from the profusion of baroque art treasures in Ragusa Ibla and Noto with a jaunt along the coast. Excursions include full day boat trips departing from Marina di Ragusa and incorporating stops at the Grotto dei Sospiri and a swim in the crystal clear waters of the Punta delle Formiche; or a skippered private boat tour of the coastline around Syracuse, including snorkelling in the Plemmirio Marine Nature Reserve.

The toothpaste white steps of Sicily’s Scala dei Turchi are even more dazzling when viewed from the water than from land.  Hop aboard a sailing boat or catamaran in Agrigento and set sail for Sicily’s southern waters. Snorkelling equipment provided.

North Sicily >>

Set sail on a mini-cruise or boat trip from Palermo and explore the waters around the Gulfs of Mondello and Sferracavallo before travelling along the coast towards Cefalù. Alternatively, one-seater Laser sail boats can be rented for an hour at a time at Isole delle Femmine, close to Palermo.

Sailing and fishing >>

If you are interested in learning to sail, key locations include the sailing club at the Isola delle Femmine, near Palermo, and Syracuse. Fishing excursions, featuring a variety of fishing techniques, can be arranged in the waters around Catania, departing from Aci Trezzza. Or for a completely different experience, why not try some night-time squid fishing!
